Don't Be Fooled by YouTubers - Here's the Truth About Freemasonry From Real Masons

Written by Brother Crosse | Mar 18, 2025 1:31:42 PM

You’ve seen the headlines. You’ve watched the viral YouTube videos. You’ve scrolled past the conspiracy posts on social media.

“Freemasons control the world!”
“Secret societies are pulling the strings behind governments!”
“Masons worship [insert nonsense here]!”

And it’s completely false.

But here’s the thing—misinformation about Freemasonry isn’t new. It’s been happening for centuries.

From political smear campaigns in the 1800s to YouTubers in the 21st century, Freemasonry has always been a target for those who fear what they don’t understand.

But before you believe everything you hear online, let’s take a look at where these myths really come from—and why they persist.

Anti-Masonry in the 1800s: America's First “Cancel Culture”

Conspiracy theories about Freemasonry didn’t start on the internet. They started in American politics.

The Morgan Affair (1826): The Birth of Anti-Masonry

In 1826, a man named William Morgan—a disgruntled ex-Mason—threatened to publish a book “exposing” Masonic rituals.

Shortly after, he disappeared.

- Some say he fled to Canada.
- Some say he was paid to vanish.
- Some say he was kidnapped.

No one knows for sure what happened to Morgan, but his disappearance fueled a firestorm of paranoia in the United States.

The Anti-Masonic Party: The First U.S. Third Party Political Movement

Fueled by the Morgan Affair, politicians saw an opportunity: Attack Freemasonry and win public favor.

In 1828, the Anti-Masonic Party was born—the first third-party political movement in U.S. history.

They painted Freemasonry as a dangerous secret society.
They accused Masons of controlling courts, banks, and government offices.
They pushed for bans on any Mason in public office.

The movement gained traction, winning elections and nearly derailing the political careers of Andrew Jackson (a Freemason of Williamsburg Lodge No. 6, Williamsburg, Virginia) and other prominent leaders.

But by the 1840s, the hysteria had burned itself out.

Why?

Because despite all the accusations, there was never any real evidence. The conspiracy collapsed under its own weight.

Sound familiar?

Anti-Masonry Today: The Same Fear, Different Century

Today’s conspiracy theorists aren’t inventing anything new. They’re just recycling the same tired arguments from the 1800s.

The same fear of the unknown.
The same claims of “secret world control.”
The same attempts to blame Freemasonry for society’s problems.

Only now, instead of political pamphlets, it’s clickbait videos.

Because let’s be honest—fear and debunking myths sells.

But just like in the 1800s, these theories fall apart the second you really look at the facts.

The Truth About Freemasonry

So what is Freemasonry, really?

✔ It’s not a secret society.
✔ It’s not about controlling the world. It’s about controlling yourself.
✔ It’s not about power. It’s about self-improvement, Brotherhood, and service.

The real "secrets" of Masonry? They’re lessons—taught through symbols and experiences—to make men better, stronger, and wiser.

Just a path that has helped millions of men for hundreds of years.

Why These Lies Keep Spreading

Because Freemasonry doesn’t argue.

For centuries, Masons have followed one principle: Let our actions speak for us.

✔ While conspiracy theorists rant, we build.
✔ While YouTubers chase clicks, we serve.
✔ While outsiders spread rumors, we live our principles.

We don’t waste time fighting every lie. Because the men who truly seek truth won’t find it in YouTube comments, they’ll find it on the alter inside the Lodge.

Who Do You Trust?

Ask yourself:

Would you trust a YouTuber’s opinion on a professional life if they’ve never experienced?

Would you trust a guy who’s never lifted weights to teach you about fitness?

Then why would you trust people who have never been Freemasons to tell you what Freemasonry is?

In short, I'm saying, "seek information firsthand."

You Have a Choice

You can keep watching YouTube videos made by people who profit from fear…
