So, you’ve heard about Freemasonry. Maybe you saw a symbol on a building, or met a guy who casually mentioned he’s a Mason—and now, you’re curious.

 But before you dive in, let’s clear up some misconceptions and give you a **real** look at what stepping into Freemasonry actually means. And if you’re thinking about joining, here’s what you absolutely **MUST** know before you take the first step.

## **1. You Can’t Just Sign Up Like a Gym Membership**

There’s no “Join Now” button on a website. No fast track. **Applying for the Degrees is by invitation, but you ask for the application when you think you're ready to start down the path to becoming a Mason.**

Sounds paradoxical, right? That’s because Freemasonry isn’t chasing members. It’s about a mutual fit, and genuine interest in the fraternity. If you’re serious about it, **make the first move, and ask to apply for the Degrees.**
